Tutankhamon, Caravaggio, Van Gogh art expo in Vicenza, Italy

So now it’s time to explore the exposition!

It is necessary to say that this art exposition is strictly personal, as advised by the cashier at the beginning and in fact I agree with that.

If I have to be sincere, honestly I did not understand that much the presence of Egyptian statues at the beginning with the other rooms of the exposition. However, it was nice to see some of them.

After this introduction, it starts the “real” exposition, based on the night, its mysteries, its sensations and its emotions. Sometimes you could see a portrait of Tiziano and at the same time a Lopez Garcia\’s window over the Madrid\’s ring. Sometimes you ask why some paintings with several centuries of difference are exposed so close, but then you realize that is the night the common factor.

In the second section I was mostly impressed by the masterpiece of Giorgione, “Double portrait”

and by other ones of Caravaggio, Tiziano, El Greco and Poussin, focused mainly on the atmosphere of the characters during the night.

The third section was the one I did not like that much, so I will go straight to the 4th one, focused mostly on the landscape, from the sunset to the night, with the moon and the stars. The pictures come mostly from the 19th Century, from the Romanticism to the Impressionism, with masterpieces of Turner, Friedrich, Corot, Millet and Monet, Pissarro, Van Gogh, Mondrian, Klee and Hopper.

Another great landscape is represented by the “City at moonrise” by Caspar David Friedrich.

Skipping the fifth section, the sixth one comes back to the relationship between the man and the night, the darkness and the stars. You will find masterpieces such as the “Tahitian girl” by Gauguin.

The best example of this section is the “Country road in Provence by night” by Van Gogh, whose I also bought in the past the replica, such as Monet’s San Giorgio Maggiore.

I would also love to underline the fact that some teachers of a high school of Vicenza decided to not take their students to this exposition, since it’s a sort of an enormous mixture and set up just for profit and so on. Personally I find this approach completely wrong, since the school should train and form people that are able to think with their own mind and not following the willingness of the teachers.

I could agree with the fact that you feel that some sections are not completely connected ( especially the first ones with the other 5 sections), but I think that the students should be given the opportunity to go there and judge the exposition following their passions. If a person is into art, he would be able to find good reasons to go there and also to appreciate some of the masterpieces you find there. 

I\’m not an art expert, but I found some parts of this exposition really interesting and I would recommend anyone to test this exposition, since it’s really personal, and explore it as if it were a city.
