Travel tips:
- All the markets and destinations can be reached by train. Alternatively you can do it by car, but then you need to park the car and the city centres may have long queues and traffic.
- A day per market is enough so you may complete the whole itinerary in 8 or 9 days. However if you want to take time to visit also the places, you may consider to visit only some of them.
- In such situation, I recommend as must-see: Brussels, Valkenburg, Aachen, Cologne and Essen. Monschau has that fairytale atmosphere you may love it.
- The Christmas markets tend to be crowded during the weekends, but in bigger cities like Brussels or Cologne even during the week. It is recommendable to visit them during the week to avoid big crowds.
- Do not miss my previous posts about the Xmas Markets: Valkenburg, Aachen and Cologne.
- To book the train tickets you can book via the Belgian Railways in Belgium, NS in the Netherlands and the Deutsche Bahn in Germany.
