Have you ever seen an opened-air mall? Well in the not far from Miami Beach with South Beach and Art Deco District there’s this great idea, developed along Lincoln Road and its road: the Miami Lincoln Road Mall.
Palm trees, pools, little squares, children’s playgrounds, shops from clothing to the souvenir ones, from jewelries to sport ones and many many restaurants are what you will find. This is not the right place for posh shopping or luxury brand shopping but anyway you will find maps with the location of shops along Lincoln Road and the closest streets.

However, if you want to have a dinner in one of the restaurants here, the prices are higher than other Miami areas: you will spend around 50 – 75$ per person.

And now a yellow cab: well it’s not part of the mall, but for an European it’s like iconic image of the U.S., especially because of the movies.
What I also noticed is the presence of many small electronic stores: the prices were absolutely low and I was and I am still wondering if they are selling refurbished electronics or devices, second handed products or imported from Caribbean countries? I don’t know but an example of these shops can be the Sobe Electronics.

Now, it’s time to show some of the main attractions of Miami Beach and Miami South Beach. Well, after the beach, the Miami Lincoln Road Mall, the Art Deco District and Ocean Drive, I could see these attractions only by night as I was trying to explore the Miami nightlife, that will be disclosed in the next post.

This is Diaries of an explorer and personally Ocean Drive was clearly too touristic so I decided to explore other streets such as Washington Avenue. The choice was the best one!

Along Washington Avenue and close to the 12th Street you will find the Old City Hall, that still towers over the surrounding streets.

The next interesting attraction is the Wolfsonian Palace, built in 1901 with its precious entrance and now part of the Florida International University. It displays also an art museum.

Another great place to go is the Espanola Way, that you will find along the 15th Street that crosses Washington Avenue. This is the Historic Spanish Village, that reproduces an old Spanish village, plenty of restaurants, art galleries,Â

It was designed in 1925 by a local architect and is part of the Miami Beach Art Deco District and now it’s one of Miami’s historic landmarks.

Of course the Espanola Way is part of the incredible Miami nightlife that will be the next post of this USA East Coast Road Trip.

We were supposed to go to Miami but our reservations got messed up. Still on our \”must see\” list, but that is a long list! It is really fun to see a place like Miami through the eyes of someone who lives abroad. I imagine the consumerism is out of control in comparison to Montebelluna! ~ David
Lol David, I really loved Miami, as it seems to be a sum of little cities, really multicultural and with diverse districts, with a fantastic nightlife. Well the consumerism could be similar to other cities that I lived, Milan and Barcelona! 🙂 However, I loved the Lincoln road open-air mall! 🙂
