Three days in Miami incl. map

Miami impressed me as you can find different districts and people (“Spanish, Haitian, Indian, Jamaican, Black, White, Cuban, and Asian“) and I think that this variety really is what it makes this place special.

• El Palacio de lo Jugos in Little Havana is definitely a place where to eat: you can have tasty tropical drinks ( 2,5$), chicken with rice and boiled potatoes for just 11$, buy sweets like dulce de leche. Please not that what you get is huge: so if you have an entire chicken with rice, please consider that you won’t finish it.
• Licoln Road and Ocean Drive are more expensive and you can eat around 50$ – 75$ per person.
• In South Beach another place where we ate was the TGI Friday’s, 500 Ocean Drive, typical American restaurants with affordable prices. Do not miss hamburgers, bbq’s and steaks, lower that the South Beach or Ocean Drive average.
• In South Beach you can also find some bar where you can eat some decent slices of pizza.
• In Miami Downtown, you can drink an Italian coffe at the D’Oro Caffè 

Where to stay:

• Budget accomodation: Bianco Boutique Motel in 5255 Biscayne Blvd, not far from Little Haiti, was the best where we slept. For 60 – 70 USD per room you can sleep in a triple room, you have the classic Wi-Fi and a good breakfast. It is called “the boutique motel”, as it has a nice and white design.
• If you travel solo, I could recommend you the Hi-Miami Beach, a really nice hostel located in the exclusive South Beach, 1506 Collins Avenue, around 30-40 Euros per night. Recommended.
• Medium budget: always in South Beach, I would recommend the Stardust Hotel, a modern and functional aparthotel that costs around 140 Euros per night per double room aparment.
• Luxury budget: for sure the Washington Park Hotel South Beach, a 4-star hotel in Washington Avenue, just 300 meters from the Art Deco District. Prices range between 250-300 Euros per night per double room.

Where to shop:

• The Lincoln Road Mall is the area where you can find many shops, malls and souvenir shops like Surf Style and Alvin House.
• In Collins Avenue (Miami Beach) you can find “posh” shops and luxury brands.
• In  Ocean Drive, there’s also an interesting art expo shop, called Effusion Gallery.
• We bought the souvenirs in South Beach Clus, 601 Collins Avenue, South Beach
• In South Beach you can find many electronics shops with low prices – don’t know if the products are new, refurbished or “stolen”, but they have great deals for sure.

Travel tips / Practical info: 

• Miami has a subway, but is limited: so if you are going there it is recommendable to hire a car as the city is huge or you can visit the city using the buses.
• If you need to change some cash in dollars, you can find many exchange agencies in Miami Downtown.
• From the airport to South Beach and viceversa, you can get the bus n. 150, the Miami Beach Airport Flyer. The price is 2,35$ once you get to the Miami Central Station. From the Miami Central Station, there\’s a train that takes you to the Miami International Airport.

• Did not take taxis or cabs: so don’t know their prices.
• These tips are customized for a 3 days trip in Miami
• There are many agencies that sell trips to the Bahamas or to Key West, the National Park of the Everglades (former Unesco World Heritage Site, de-listed as “in danger”).

In the surroundings, you can go to a quieter place, Key Biscayne, the next stop of this fantastic USA East Coast Road Trip.
